Been following this one for a while! Very interested to see where it was headed and I'm happy to see the end product was such an incredible labor of love, and so many people really put their all into this to make everything look great.

As to be expected with this cast of artists, the art and animation was incredible. Hard pressed to find errors, every shot looked amazing. Each scene was framed perfectly, my eyes always drawn to where intended. The colors were balanced in every frame, the perspectives maintained believability all while being fun and playful as could be. The character designs were distinctive as hell, and looked very visually pleasing (albeit a little too CLEAN). The way the characters moved reflected their personalities to a tee, and I couldn't have expected better visuals. Genuinely top tier and beautiful stuff, and it would shock anybody to hear that this was done under an indie budget.

The writing was Ok! The world and concept was of course fun and grungy, and every background was polished enough to give you instant context on the type of universe these characters were living in! Again, my eyes loved this pilot.

Unfortunately, visuals can only carry a cartoon so far. There was a lot of stuff that was so distracting that it was almost impossible to ignore them in favor of the stunning visuals.

While the world made was nice, I couldn't feel any of it. The creaky ship had no noise that made it seem like a cozy shitshack, which made the voice acting feel very sanitized and as if every bug in the room had halted to listen to the main characters. The backgrounds while pretty, seemed a bit still as if again to put the designs in the spotlight, though this is more of a nitpick than the other points.

The main problems really stem from the audio. While the music was fantastic, I wish I could hear more of it! The mixing from the fight scenes sounded almost pathetic and underwhelming due to the sole fact that it sounded like I was hearing it from the other room. It made the multiple grunts from each character during those scenes awkward as hell and made the actions sound flat and un-impactful. I would have loved to see more of the music come through in almost every scene, because the most unfortunate part of this film had to be the voice acting by far.

Watched a couple times with a group of friends, you could hear people letting out exacerbated sighs every single time the main character would pull out his Spanish lexicon to momentarily put on a fake hispanic accent. It was impossible to listen to Shrike as half the time his words were completely unintelligible. Captions are HIGHLY needed for this watch.
Most voices weren't AS bad as the protagonist, but almost every supporting role sounding the way they did culminated in a genuinely grating experience that detracted from the visuals.
There were a few good voices! The big fella sounded clean, Chester was alright, and the cat fella all did well. But even with those good performances, they were undermined by specifically the dialogue mixing. It hardly felt tuned and didn't fit the scenarios the characters were in. Nothing was done to make a character sound as if they were in an alleyway or a metal box. No matter how good the voice was, I was just brought back to the visual of a 20 year old guy doing goofy voices in his homemade booth. There are exceptions to this for a couple scenes, but for the most part it was very noticeable.

Apologies for the long review, I personally see this film as a net win for any independent creative out there who's trying to make their way into the world. I think every single person who worked on this should be proud to contribute to the idea that stuff like this really takes a team, and people working together can make something that trumps most industry modern media by a mile.

Good work, looking forward to seeing more, and hope that my comments don't seem demeaning in anyway. This film has been worth the wait, and I look forward to see a second episode that has the experience learned from the first!
